Resina Wilkins

 Resina Wilkins

Mary and John Wilkins were listed in the 1830 census of Mason Co., NC.  Shortly after that time they departed for Cole Co., MO where John died in the fall of 1844.  It is possible that the Wilkins family were already planning their move to Texas as John and Mary were found selling their land in Sept. of 1844.  Two of their sons, William and George were already in Texas.  After John’s death Mary with her three daughters, Cassandra, Resina and Hannah, joined her sons, Jonathan, Matthew and Issac along with son-in-law, Orange Benton Prentiss, in their move to Texas.  Resina Wilkins died in 1860 shortly after giving birth to twins.  She and her baby are said to be the first burials at Graham’s Point Cemetery in Hunt County, TX.
