Mrs. Mary Wilkins
Mrs. Mary Wilkins
Mary maiden name has been a source of much discussion. She is reported to have been a Love but no concrete proof can be found for that statement. What appears not to need proof is her brave pioneer spirit. We know that she moved with her husband, John Wilkins from Mason Co., North Carolina to Cole County, Missouri sometime in the early 1830′s. After John’s death in 1844, Mary packed up her household once more and moved with her family to the Republic of Texas where she joined the Mercer Colony in December of 1844.
