Martha Jane Howington could recognize, by the crack of his whip, when her first husband, Fabian Arthur Worthing was nearing home after a trip to Brownsville.  Fabian Arthur Worthing was murdered by bandits near Brownsville on May 20, 1862 while hauling cotton for the Confederate Army.
