 Lee F.T. Cottle

Lee F.T. Cottle was a veteran of the War of 1812.  He was commissioned a Lt. Col. in the Missouri Militia  in 1820.  He came to Texas in the early 1820’s with the Zadock Woods.  He immigrated to Texas in 1826 to settle and raise a family.  He served in Texas as an Election Judge in 1836.  He took the oath of office as a  Post Office worker on the 21st day of June, 1839.  He was a fiddle player!

He met his future wife Candace Criswell during the Runaway Scrape.  They were married on Jan 29, 1838 that was the second recorded marriage in Fayette County, TX.  They had four children  before his death in 1845.  His Wife Candace re-married Obediah Fitzgerald and had several more children.
