John McDonald

 Robert John Cummings and Elizabeth Ann McFarlin married on 23 Nov. 1830 in Rutherford County, TN.  They were in Texas by 1838, in Nacogdoches County, where he provided transportation for the army of the Republic of Texas.  He was killed at the Dawson Massacre in 1842.  His wife was still trying to collect payment for his service in 1854. 

His daughter Eliza Jane Cummings married John McDonald in 1869 in Caldwell County, TX.  This was her 4^th marriage.  They had  4 children, Idora, Mollie, Louis & Alexander McDonald.
