Daniel B. Graham was born in North Carolina.  Because of family friction he left at a very young age.  It has been told that Graham was not his actual surname.  Legend says that after he left home he was taken in by a family named Graham and took their name as his own.  He made his way to Texas arriving in the late 1830′s.  He was approved for land in Nacogdoches County in 1839.
